How Palm Beach's tax deed process works
Palm Beach County uses Florida's tax certificate and tax deed process: the tax collector sells tax certificates at the annual sale, bid down from a maximum of 18% a year, and once two years have passed since April 1 of the year a certificate was issued, its holder can apply for a tax deed. The owner can still redeem until the tax deed is paid for. The clerk then auctions the property, typically online through RealAuction or the clerk's own platform; the certificate holder's amount plus costs is the opening bid (Fla.
