How Wyoming tax lien sales work

Albany County runs its tax sales under Wyoming state rules: it is a tax lien state with a redemption posture of 4 yrs.

County treasurer sells a tax lien certificate at the annual sale. Owner may redeem for FOUR years from the sale (W.S. 39-13-108) at 15%/yr + 3% first-year penalty. The certificate holder may apply for a tax deed no earlier than 4 years after the sale, and must apply before 6 years lapse or the certificate expires. There is no '2-year' redemption — the owner can redeem up until the deed application is filed and accepted.

WY is a lien state. County treasurers sell tax sale certificates. Extended redemption period. After 4 years of delinquency, county can issue tax deed. No state income tax. Very limited auction volume. Check for mineral/oil/gas rights.
