Delinquent mobile home taxes will continue to be offered at the tax sale to private tax buyers under the applicable provisions of Illinois law.”

Illinois is a tax lien state with a redemption posture of 3 yrs (varies). Three years for property sold at the annual sale on or after July 10, 2026, but only one year for vacant non-farm land, buildings with 7 or more units, and commercial or industrial property. Certificates sold from January 2024 to July 9, 2026 run two and a half years. Land a county resells after taking its own tax deed carries no redemption.
